Marketing students learn techniques of anticipating the
demand for goods and services and their effective coordination,
development, promotion, and distribution. Graduates can expect
to work in industrial and consumer sales, marketing research,
advertising, purchasing, distribution, and logistic activities
in a range of organizations.
Graduates will understand the operations and challenges
associated with getting goods and services from producer to the
user.
Marketing is an active, interpersonal relationship career field that requires high energy. Marketing is an ever changing area that adapts quickly to new technologies. Successful marketers should have good analytical, technical, communication and interpersonal skills. The curriculum in the SBE is designed to help develop those skills.
Most entry level jobs in marketing are in sales, but a wide range of marketing jobs are available in industrial marketing. These include positions in marketing research, advertising, packaging, product management, and distribution. Some examples of jobs of recent graduates are sales representatives, brand analysts, and marketing managers at companies like Arco Service Corporation, General Motors, IBM, and Osh Kosh B'Gosh.
