Why should I choose the School of Technology?

Our hallmark is the practical application of technical knowledge—a hands-on education that prepares you to address and solve the problems of our global society. Graduates work as applied engineers who are involved with the design, installation, management, operation, and maintenance of complex technological systems.

As a result of a broad education, skills in working with people, and technical problem solving abilities, technology graduates are often the go-to person in many organizations. Industries employing graduates are extremely diverse, ranging from construction to health care, from small family-owned business to international corporations.

What is the difference between engineering technology and engineering?

An engineering technology education provides many opportunities for hands-on experiences and most classes have an accompanying lab component. This differs from traditional engineering classes which have a more mathematical, theory-based approach and fewer labs.

If you are interested in research and development or very focused design work, a traditional engineering degree may be appropriate. If you want to be where the action is in a company and have the desire to be a contributor as early as possible, then an engineering technology degree is for you.
